Individual Therapy

What is Individual Therapy?

Metaphorically speaking…

Healing is a journey. Just as the sun rises and sets, the seasons come and go, the forces of nature move through our choices and our lives. Healing is a part of these forces, and when conditions align, great and rejuvenating things are possible. Therapy is intended to be a balm for the internal experience that one is navigating each day; a space that is intended to rework the “extras” into a fabric where the waft and the weave make a design that “fits” a little or a whole lot better. When it comes down to it, many of us, if not all of us, have been affected by trauma, large or small, and tending those wounds is the world of individual therapy. The chance to check out of the day to day and drop into a space where the intent is to assist you in your healing, that is individual therapy.

Practically speaking…

Holistic psychotherapy addresses the “whole” person by integrating spiritual, physical, mental, and emotional forms of well-being helping individuals develop a deeper understanding of themselves on all these levels. Clients choose an hour slot, commonly weekly, to take time to work through whatever may be in the way of them feeling most well, most alive, most whole. Having been trained in depth psychology, Somatic Experiencing and EMDR, I use tools of balancing and recalibration, in tune with your inner knowing to elicit positive and uplifting regulation and change.

The possibility to make small changes that amount to substantial shifts over the long haul.

Self-awareness, the receiving of kindness, compassion, and empathy skills, as well as insight, gleaned from sharing your story; all of these can create shifts in identity, comfort with self, self-efficacy that uplevel your overall wellbeing, step by step. In this process, one’s overall health may improve, as the mind-body connection is interdependent and can have synergistic positive effects. Strengths gained while looking at the past can help you glean new mindsets, tactics, and methods to handle the present and future. Reviewing and giving care and attention to your experiences, hardships, and traumas makes space for new patterns, deeper experiences, and potentially release of ways of thinking or being that could be stuck related to these unfortunate events. New conceptualization allows space for new neural networks to be built. These new networks allow new insight, inspiration, and ideas to form. The interpersonal neurological process of productive therapy time actually rewires your brain for enhanced functioning. The possibility for therapy to become a healthy coping mechanism can support you in transforming a not-so-productive soothing mechanism (think scrolling, social media, casual drinking, mindless fill in the blank) into a new use of time, focus, and energy. Therapy can provide some structure, focus, and frame to reconceptualize your value, time management, and resources in a healthier and more productive way.

Engaging in therapy will be a process of self-exploration, an honest assessment of strengths, weaknesses, desires, and foibles.

Therapy sessions are intended to be a supremely safe space, free of judgment, full of presence; intended for your betterment, upliftment, and in honor of your wholeness. You can expect to get as much out of it as you put into it. Those who love extracurriculars and working ahead will receive suggestions on journal prompts, bibliotherapy, and referrals to other practitioners who might support whatever deepening of discovery, healing, or experience you are looking for. Those who are in a place of receiving, or a novice to the experience can feel safe and assured that there is healing and opportunity ripe for them as well.

Free complimentary consultation, 15 minutes.

Individual therapy sessions are $125/hour.
